The son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Denning of 8 Brabaw St., Wallaceburg. Attended public school in Wallaceburg and was working at the Dominion Glass co.  and Schultz Die-Casting Co.  prior to his enlistment.

He enlisted early in the 1st Battalion of the Kent Regt. in 1940. He would later transfer to the Essex Scottish and went overseas with that unit to finish his training in England. He went to France in 21 July 1944 with the Essex Scottish. He was reported as WIA while fighting with his unit in France 21 July 1944, the nature of his wound was not mentioned.  Boyce was 22 years old. The CDN 11/08/44(P) ran a photo of the young soldier.
