Born in Dover Twsp., Kent Co., ON. The son of Philippe and Helene Demars of Dover Centre, Kent Co., ON. The husband of Eleanor (nee Myers) they had two daughters Marie and Shirley and a son Homer he also had seven brothers and six sisters. Prior to his enlistment he was employed at Todgham Motor Sales  and also the Fenton repair shop in Chatham.

Pte. Demars was reported to have been in service for more than a year 

The CDN 20/07/42 reported that the body of Pte. Demars was found in the Kingston, ON. harbor, three days after he was reported missing. He had been stationed at Camp Barriefield. The body was returned by rail and a military service was performed at St. Anthony’s cemetery with an Honour Guard from No. 12 BTC. – Chatham
