Day, Douglas “Doug” Charles Edward

 

 

Born 13/04/1927, Born in Toronto, ON.The brother of Norma, Verroll, Bert and Ross The husband of Kathryn (nee Wieringa) 17/03/51, survived by three sons Robert ‘Bob’, William ‘Bill’ and Ron.

Doug served in the RCN.

Doug enlisted 13/04/45 at HMCS Hunter, Windsor, ON. Trained at Quebec City, HMCS Cornwallis, NS. After his training he was drafted to HMCS Bowmanville (a Corvette). Sailed to Londonderry, Northern Ireland. At wars end he returned to Windsor, ON. for discharge. 

He retired from the Chatham Recreation Dept. He played recreational basketball and coached Minor baseball, enjoyed golf and bowling.  A fan of the Detroit Red Wings, Tigers and Lions.

Douglas passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Saturday, 5 December, 2015 at the age of 88 years.
