                                                                                                Nov. 6, 1942

                                                                                          Somewhere in France.

   Dear Sir,

A Few lines to you is the only way I have in thanking you for the Wallaceburg News.It makes a fellow feel as if he is back home again to receive your very much welcomed paper. A while back some of our mail was lost and I never received your paper. And it makes a fellow as if he has lost his best friend. I have been wanting to write to you but have been putting it off, so I know what the old saying means. Never put off for to-morrow what you can do today. There is not any of the lads from home whereI am. I have only seen about two since I have been over here.I found out where Pte. Frank Bouwellswas stationed and we planned on going on leave to-getherand making up for lost time. I wrote back to him and never received any answer. A few week laterhis letter was returned to me. Then I received word from home he was missingfrom the Dieppe Raid. I would have given anything to be with him.He was one of the best friendsI had back home. He was really a great guy and I never will forget him.

I will say Cheero for now.

   Yours Sincerely.

   Dvr. C. H. Dawe
