Reported as a POW in Italy he was trandferred to a German POW camp after previously being listed as missing in action. RIN 9/01/13, RIN 18/06/14. Charles was a POW for “nearly four years” , he received a scroll from Ridgetown Mayor George M. Silcox in 1946 along with 100 others from Ridgetown and area.  CDN 22/10/42. RIN 7/12/11,RIN 18/06/14.
