Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 2297 – 2, Item: 346899, PDF:- B2297-SO21.  Date of Birth: 25/12/1883 at Chatham, ON. A tool-maker.   Married to Lillian May, (Biblay) living at 5 Lincoln Rd., Windsor, ON., where he worked as a tool-maker. His wife lived at 227 Inches Ave., Chatham and 82 Gray St., Chatham, ON. They had three children: Violet Marguerite (5 yrs.), John Bruce (3yrs.) and Florence Eva (18 mos.). His father Thomas Darling of Mount Albert, ON and his Mother Martha were living.  Member of 7th Field Artillery and 24th Kent Regt. Attestation: 8/05/1916 at Chatham, ON to 186th Bn.  Bandsman Arthur J. Darling went overseas with the 186th. Battalion, the latter part of March, 1917, and upon his arrival in England was stationed at Bramshott Camp, as Bandsman.

Age: 32 yrs. 5 mths., Height: 5’ 7 ½”, Girth: 36 ½” , Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Blue, Hair, Dark Brown. Weight: 140 #. Attestation: Medical “Fit” 8/05/1916 at Chatham, ON. Date of Service: 7/04/17. Living at 227 Inches Ave., Chatham, ON. LillianMay (wife) was living at 82 Gray St., Chatham, ON. Theatre of War. 

Departed Halifax aboard the S.S.LAPLAND., 25/03/17 with the 186th Bn.,Arrived in England 7/04/17. TOS: 20/04/17. 25/05/18 SOS Hospital to 2 CCD, 27/05/18. “He first noticed bleeding and painful with Piles.  Discharged from Hospital Nov. 1918 “ Ceased to be attached 2nd CCD. 29/11/18 No. 81 RAF – Depot “O” Wing proceeding to Canada – Embarked 18/07/1919

Arthur joined the Canadian Air Force – No.1 Fighter Sqd, 20/01/19. TOS 1ST Fighter Appointed a Cpl. 5/04/19 No. 81 Sqd. – Canadian  20/01/19. TOS: No. 1 Dist. 31/07/19
