Private Robert Crone left Chatham for overseas March 22nd, 1917 and after training at Bramshott camp, proceeded to France, transferring to the 18th.Battalion, June 21st, 1917. He was wounded August 21st, 1917, being admitted to Hospital in Rouen, France, but returned to his unit in October. After the engagement at Passchendaele he suffered from trench feet, and was sent to the 18th. General Hospital, France, being returned to England November 21st, 1917. He entered Horton War Hospital, convalesced at Woodcote Park, Epsom, and returned to Bramshott.
