Son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Crawford of Electric, Dover Twsp,  Kent Co., ON. Archie was one of the first area men to enlist only a few days after the declaration of war joining the Essex Scottish.

He arrived overseas 1 August, 1940. He was involved in the raid on Dieppe in August 1942. Follwing the failed raid in which all but two of his were killed, Sgt. Crawford was deligated to call on the wives and families of the killed and missing.

The WN 31/08/44 reported that on 13 August Archie had been wounded in his left elbow with shrapnel. 

Reported arrived home from overseas duty CDN 7/05/45.
