Private John Cradinawa enlisted for freedom, liberty and justice, leaving Canada for overseas February 14th, 1915, and proceeding to France September 14th, 1915, when a destroyer was encountered in the channel which caused serious damage. August 26th, 1916, he received wounds through the legs, was admitted to No. 24 General Hospital, and later to hospital in England, returning three months later to his unit at the Somme.
At Courcelette he received five wounds in the shoulder and arms; was admitted to No. 22 General Hospital, transferred to the 5th. Canadian Clearing Station, and five weeks later returned to the base and to his unit.
After service at Vimy Ridge, Arras, Passchendaele and Marincourt he was transferred to the 4th. Battalion, M.G.S., serving until May 1918 when he was boarded and marked B2, and returned to England December 23rd, 1918. He left for Canada January 29th, 1919.
Private John Cradinawa received his discharge April 1st, 1919.
