Cadet Robert Howell Cowan trained in Canda with the R.F.C., received his commission as Lieutenant with the R.F.C. September 1st, 1917, proceeded overseas, and after training in England was gazette Flying Officer in November. He went to France the same month, was taken prisoner December 18th, 1917, and held in Germany until December 11th, 1918, when he was returned to England, thence to Canada, arriving in Chatham February 12th, 1919.
Lieutenant Robert Howell Cowan received his discharge January 17th, 1919, and returned to Canada due to demobilisation.
