Resident Tilbury

Born in Tilbury, ON. 12/01/1879 the son of Jane Coutts of Kitaooty, Alberta. Attestation: 20/05/1916 at Saskatoon, Sask. to the 96th Bn. Saw service in France received a GSW to the right forearm and suffered from broken arches. He was discharged from the army 8/08/1919. LAC, TADHS.

Pte. Gus Coutts Home

Pte. Gus Coutts who enlisted in Kistscote, Alt. in 1916 has returned and was renewing acquaintances here last week. Gus enlisted with the 96th Batt. in Saskatoon in May 1916 and landed in France in October of the same year, where he was transferred to the 13th Royal Highlanders. He was wounded in the leg by shrapnel at Vimy Ridge, and was in hospital four months. He was in the army of occupation in Germany for about a month, and left Bonn, Germany in January of this year. He returned to Canada on the S.S. Baltic and reports a very pleasant trip home.
