Born in Shrewsbury, England the son of Dr. James Walter and Violet Lillian (nee Robbins) Coulter. Educated at McKeough School, he attended high school at Chatham Collegiate Institute and attended Queen’s University from 1937 – 43. Married his wife Patricia Mary “Patty” (nee Sulman) they were living at 187 Victoria Ave., Chatham, ON., the father of Carol Rebecca and Margo Trevor.
He joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps in June of 1942 and was on the staff of No. 12 BTC, Chatham. Captain Coulter was an instructor at the Medical Training Centre, Camp Borden. The CDN 5/07/44 Reported that Mrs. Coulter was spending a few days with Capt. Coulter in Barrie. Lieut. Coulter was reported returning to Camp Borden after a few days leave in Chatham. CDN 8/03/44 Captain Coulter was reported returning to Camp Borden after a week-end leave with his wife and children in Chatham. CDN 22/08/44. In November of 1944 Captain Coulter returned to Camp Borden after a weekend leave with Mrs. Coulter and their children. CDN 11/12/44
He was reported as serving overseas in the CDN 6/02/45, he would serve sixteen months overseas serving in Holland, Belgium and Germany. IODE(P) as well as family.
After the war he interned at St. Joseph Hospital in London, ON., establishing a General Practice in Wallaceburg from 1946 to 1947. He became the Resident of Urology at the Mayo Clinic from 1949 to 53.
Dr. Coulter passed away 18 Feb., 1985. CDN 11/11/13.
