Enlisted with the Kent Regiment. Spent eighteen months in Canada. Transferred to the South Saskatchewan Regiment and went overseas. Served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Hospitalized three times. Awarded the C.V.S.M. and Clasp, the Defence Medal of England, 1940 to 1945 Star and the France, Belgium, Holland and Germany Medal.
The KCFA 19/07/45 reported that the hospital ship Letitia had docked at Halifax NS., with six Kent County boys who might be going to hospital in London rather their homes. Capt. Cornell of 8 West St., Chatham was on the list.
Discharged October 2nd, 1945.
