Regimental number: 27211, Gordon Highlanders (Imperial Army).  The 2nd son of Mrs. Mary Copeland of Stanley Avenue, Chatham, brother of Charles 880603. Stanley enlisted in Scotland with the Gordon Highlanders at the “beginning of the war” at the age of 19 years. CDP 3/05/1918. It is also reported that the widow Copland has two sons one enlisted with the 186th (Charles), at the time one was in England and the other in France.
