Regimental number: 6443 Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 1945 – 3 Date of Birth 24/03/1872, at Buxton, Kent County, ON., his mother Mrs. Emma Cook of Detroit, Michigan. He was married and his wife was residing at 283 St. Clair Street, Chatham, ON., listed as next of kin. Harry working as a carpenter prior to joining the 1st Bn. at Valcatier PQ., 22/09/1914 age the age of 35 years.
Harry went overseas 29/09/14 with the the 1st Bn., trained at Salisbury Plain and left for France 8/02/1915. During the Battle of St. Julien (2nd Battle of Ypres) he was wounded in the thigh. Admitted to hospital in Boulogne for three weeks, where upon he was transferred to England and spent the next three months in a convalence hospital in Nottingham. From there Harry was transferred to the 9th Reserve Bn. at Lower Dibgate and from there to the 36th Reserve Bn. at West Sandling where he was determined unfit for active service and was returned to Canada 15/12/15.
Harry was given a medical discharge from the army on 22/03/16.
