Served with Elgin Tegiment for a year, promoted to Corporal with the Elgins. Put in Hospital in Valcartier, Quebec in 1941. Transferred to Royal Canadian Engineers. Sent back to Petawawa on headquarters staff as Sergeant then to Brockville to Officer’s Training Centre on administrative staff as staff sergeant. Remained there until December 15th, 1945, when he was discharged with the rank of Company Sergeant Major.
