Private Clifford Collop transferred in the spring of 1916 from the 91st. to the 186th. Battalion, and was promoted to the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant of A Company. he went overseas with this unit the latter part of March 1917, and after a short training in England proceeded to France, transferring to the 18th. Battalion, as a private.

He received a gunshot wound August 15th, and was admitted to Horton Manor Hospital until September 21st, when he was transferred to the Canadian Convalescent Hospital, Epsom. He returned to France November 29th, 1917. Had his toes frostbitten March 1918 and was sent to Toxreth Park Military Hospital, Liverpool.

Proceeded to Espom May 3rd, 1918 and rejoined the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion in August 1918. In September he was taken on Record Staff of the 4th Reserve, which was changed to Right Wing C.C.C. He was appointed Sergeant Clerk February 1919. Embarked at Liverpool July 3rd as Sergeant Clerk on demobilisation record Staff of S.S.Empress of Britian, arriving at Quebec July 11th, 1919.

Discharged at Quebec due to demobilisation July 11th, 1919.
