Resident Erieau, Wheatley

Son of Mr. and Mrs. George Coll of Erieau.

Enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery CDN 26/09/39.

In February of 1942 his mother received a cablegram from England informing her that Gunner Stanley Coll was seriously ill. Stan was one of the first boys to leave Erieau to enlist in 1940 and he had been overseas for almost two years. CDN 17/02/42.

The CDN 26/06/45 reported that he was aboard a ‘hospital ship expected to dock on or about 29 June, 1945. The CDN 28/06/45 reported that his arrival in Canada would be the next Friday. He could expect to be greeted by his English wife and two young daughters who proceeded him home to Canada by several months. Stanley’s parents had moved to Wheatley where his wife and children also resided.
