Colebrook, Edward Griffith

 

The son of Mr. G. H. and Lillian Colebrook of 58 Lorne Ave., Chatham, ON.the brother of Blake and Constance (nee Reid).  The father of Wayne.  Edward was a graduate of the Chatham Vocational School.  Prior to his enlistment Ted was working at International Harvester on Grand Ave. East, Chatham, ON.  He returned with LAC Batch also from Chatham.

Ted enlisted in the RCAF 1 June, 1940 as a Armourer. He did his training at three Rivers, PQ. and Brandon, MB as an armourer.   He was reported to have arrived in England in March, 1942. CDN 18/03/42.  Served in Canada two years and eight months. Went overseas and served in England. Promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Ted was stationed at 410 Squadron-RCAF Lincolnshire, England at the time 410 Sqd. was still flying the Bristol Beaufighter II-F. In November of 1942 they had been flying de Havland Mosquito Mark II and would fly variants of that up to the Mark 30 from August 44 to June 1945.  The CDN 25/02/44 reported that Sgt. Colebrook had arrived in Canada and was on his way home. The CDN 22/05/44 reported that Sgt. Colebrook had spent a week-end with his parents before returning to RCAF Trenton.   He returned with LAC Batch also from Chatham.  Ted was discharged 24 March, 1945. 

Discharged March 24th, 1945.

Edward “Ted” Colebrook passed away 12 December, 2005.
