Sergeant John Cochrane sailed from Halifax for overseas April 29th, 1917, training in England until November 23rd, 1917, when he reverted to Private to cross to France with the Gordon Highlanders.
He was gassed and wounded August 27th or 28th and was taken to No. 2 Australian General Hospital. He rejoined his Battalion on November 1st and went on leave November 4th. At the expiration of his leave he joined the Reserve Battalion in England and remained there until he saile for Canada.
Discharged at Toronto May 5, 1919, reason: physically unfit.
