He transferred to the CNVR 1/07/1918 and discharged from HMCS Niobe 19/12/1918. He received the Naval reserve Service Medal.
Seaman John Cobby served on the H.M.S. “Prince George” through the Dardanelles campaign, and was then transferred to the “Queen of the North”, a mine sweeper, as Quartermaster. He later served on an armed liner, carrying ammunition from London docks to ports in France. Was shelled and bombed several times by German Aeroplanes. Was transferred to Canadian Naval Service July 1st, 1918.
Discharged December 19th, 1918 from H.M.C.S. Niobe, due to demobilisation.
