Born 11/01/1915 at Harwich, Twsp. Kent Co. ON.  The son of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Clark of Adelaide St., Chatham, ON. Ward was married and had a daughter his family was living on Richmond Street, Chatham.

The brother of Grace, Edith and Blanche. Ward attended public school at South Buxton, high school in Merlin and went to the Chatham Business College. He also enjoyed hockey and baseball, played the saxophone well enough to make some extra money in his teens.

Prior to his enlistment he worked at Chyslers.  The husband of Marguerite  Clark, (nee Eichenberg) of 131 Adelaide St., South, Chatham, Ontario, they married 6/09/1942 and had a daughter Sharron Dianne. Found on family grave marker at Pardoville Cemetery. 

Ward enlisted in June, 1942. 29/06/42 Ward began his training with the RCE., at Camp Petawawa a camp that covered 14 square miles, twelve mile from Pembroke, ON. Ward thought the camp was like the Sahara Desert, sandy, dry dirty and very cold at night. They often swam in the Ottawa River. He married Marguerite 6 September, 1942 and they had a daughter Sharron. He also trained at Lethbridge, AL. 20/10/42 from there to Nanimo, BC. 20/06/43 until leaving for Kiska.

The CDN 29/12/43 reported that Spr. Clark had recently returned from Kiska. He had spent the Christmas holidays in Chatham wife and baby daughter. He returned to Vernon, BC.  

Ward served on Kiska in the Aleutian Islands off Alaska from 30/08/43 to 18/10/43, the islands had been taken by the Japanese.  The CDN 2/03/44 reported that Sapper Clark was returning to Vernon BC. after a few days home to see his wife and daughter. It was reported that Ward had seen service in Kiska against the Japanese. SRWI / CDN(P).  From there he was sent overseas to England in June, 1944 joining the South Saskatchewan Regt,. Ward arrived in England 9 July, 1944 serving in that unit as a runner attached to the Headquarters until in France, Belgium and Holland before his death in 14 October, 1944 in Belgium at age 29.

The CDN 2/03/44 reported that Sapper Clark was returning to Vernon BC. after a few days home to see his wife and daughter. It was reported that Ward had seen service in Kiska against the Japanese. SRWI / CDN(P).

The CDN 6/09/44 reported Spr. Clark was serving overseas. His wife and daughter were residing on Richmond St. in Chatham.  It was reported that Pte. Nelson Ward Clark was KIA 14/10/44 while serving in the Saskatchewan Regt. 14/10/44.
