Claeys, Ramie

 

Rank: Private, Service No: A/102788. Regiment: Cape Breton Highlanders, R.C.I.C. Born 22 Apr., 1922 in Cortemarck, Belgium the son of Camiel and Maria Claeys of 43 Adelaide St., Chatham, ON., brother of  Germaine of Chatham, Ontario. Ramy had lived in Chatham for nineteen years. Prior to his enlistment Ramy was employed at the Tecumseh Hotel in Chatham.

Ramie enlisted 26/08/42, receiving his early training at No.12 BTC – Chatham. He would later recievie training at Camp Ipperwash before going overseas as a reinforcement in March of 1943. He was a truck driver in the Army. CDN 16/03/44(P)

Maria Claeys was notified that her son Pte. Ramie Claeys was killed in action in January of 1944 reported in the CDN 1/02/44.
