Next of Kin Mrs. R. A. Chrysler, his wife, living at 32 James St., Chatham, ON.  Attestation: 5/01/1916 to 241st Batt. 

Sailed from Halifax aboard the S.S. Layland – 1/04/16. Arv. in England  aboard the S.S. Lapland,  7/06/16 Embarked to France – 6/06/16. 

Herbert was reported being wounded in action 12/10/16, CMR TO FIELD – 18/11/16. The result of a GSW to the right thigh 5/10/16 to No. 10 Gen. Hosp. – 13/10/16, to 21/11/1916. No. 10 Gen. Hospital GSW “Right Thigh”. Discharged -9/11/16. Medical Board – GSW Right Thigh – Recovered – fit for duty. Reported  from Bronchitis.   He was reported to have recovered on 14/11/1916.  Private Herbert E. Chrysler went overseas with the 33rd. Battalion in March 1916, and proceeded to France in June, transferring to the 4th C.M.R. He received wounds Friday, October 13th, 1916, returning to England for treatment. In March, 1917, he again crossed too France, being attached to then 5th Canadian R.R. Troops, Mechanical Transport Section.

19/07/18 was working for 50 cent per duration. 14/01/19 – Sick furlough (12 Days) 13/03/1919 – Millen’s Hotel, Leigh. – Edinburgh – Knotty Ash. Camp – Liverpool 13/03/19. 

 Arv. – France: 30/04/18  30/01/19 – Invalided. 22/07/1919 to Canada.    

His military record indicates that he was admitted to the Canadian General Hospital at Basingstoke, Hauts, England on 13/03/1919 with “influenza”- a contagious disease. Conf. Camp R/C. 14/05/19. Now available to be discharged, Embarked “Royal George” – Embarked from Liverpool – Disembarked at Halifax – 14/05/1919.
