Born in Chatham the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Chrysler. Douglas attended McKeough Public School,and the Chatham Collegiate Institute. Prior to his enlistment he was employed at the Chrysler Corp in Chatham. The brother of Gordon training at RCAF Fingal in November of 1944 CDN 2/11/44(P)
Douglas enlisted in the RCAF in June of 1941.
Served overseas two years.The CDN 20/05/43 reported that LAC. Douglas, stationed at Dunnville was visiting home over the week-end along with his brother Gordon stationed at Three Rivers, PQ. Douglas was reported on a short leave in June 1942 from RCAF Dunnville. “Mrs. Chrysler who had been visiting in Chatham will accompany him when he returns to Dunnville.” CDN 13/06/42.
The CDN 25/03/43 reported Cpl. Douglas Chrysler was stationed at Dunnville to spend a week-end at his home in Chatham.
The CDN 20/05/43 reported that LAC. Douglas, stationed at Dunnville was visiting home over the week-end along with his brother Gordon stationed at Three Rivers, PQ.
Promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Was awarded the C.B.S. Medal.
Cpl. Douglas along with his wife Roberta and daughter Karen returned to Dunnville, where he was stationed. The were visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. Roy Chrysler of Grand Ave., Chatham. CDN 18/01/44 Roberta and Karen were living at 32 James St., Chatham. The CDN 10/02/44 reported that Cpl. Chrysler, then stationed at Dunnville was in Chatham to attend the funeral of his grandmother Mrs. R. A. Chrysler.
Besides Dunnville, he was stationed at St. Thomas, Dauphin, MB., and Fengal, ON. before being posted overseas.
Discharged April 11th, 1946.
