Private Guy R. Christian was categorized in B2 and remained in Queen’s Park, London with the 1st. Depot Battalion, D Co. W.O.R. until May, when he was categorized A1 and assigned to the 1st. Battalion, Canadian G. Regiment at Carling Heights with which he sailed for overseas July 1st, 1918 on the “S.S. City of Vernara”. This boat was shipwrecked an Berkenhead Rock in the Atlantic. The troops were taken back to Halifax and transferred to another ship. He trained at Witley Camp in England until October 1918 when he crossed to France with the 1st. Canadian Battalion and proceeded to Germany after the Armistice was signed.
