Resident Tilbury

Born at Tilbury, ON. in 1922, the eldest son of Mr. Henry and Margaret Chevalier of Prospect St., Tilbury. The brother of Clayton P., Clinton S. and H. C.

Henry enlisted on 1/09/1942 in the RCAF at Windsor at the age of 21. He was first stationed at No.1 Manning Depot, Toronto, and from there to McGill University for electronics training. In May of 1943, LAC. Chevalier was to be stationed at No.2 Wireless School, Calgary, AL., where he graduated. After this, he had a short furlough reported in the CDN 1/09/43 (P) at his parents home. From there, he went to Fingal B & G School for a course TT 20/05/43. In late September, WAG Carlyle was stationed at the Bombing and Gunnery school at Fingal, ON.  In the article and picture of “Windsor and District Men Are Presented With Wings’ (Paper unknown). He received his wings at No. 4 Bombing and Air Gunnery School, Fingal, ON. in October 1943 and he went overseas from there. Rita Lobzun Collection, TT 23/09/43.

It was reported in the CDN 15/03/45 that Margaret Chevalier had received a cablegram from her son, WO. Carlyle, that read “Have finished my tours. Will be home soon, Love Carlyle”.
