Born in Port Alma 19 Jan, brother of Sgt. John A. Claire enlisted 2 October, 1942 along with his brother John with 1919, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A Charlton.
Claire enlisted on the 2nd of October, 1942, along with his brother, John with the 30th Reconnaissance Battalion in Windsor, Ontario. Claire trained in Ontario as a driver mechanic. Later, In Ottawa, he tested the war tanks. In December of 1944, he went to El-Centoro, California.
The Merlin Standard (1944) reported that he had returned after several months spent training in Arizona. The MS. 7/12/44 reported that Tpr. Charlton was home on leave.
In March of 1945, they were transferred to Phoenix, Arizona. Claire returned to Windsor, Ontario in October of 1945 and was officially discharged from service on March 1, 1946.
