The son of Leonard and Mabel (Wingate) Chandler of Chatham. The brother of Raymond A49893. Married to Donna (Homby). They had two children: David and Sue.
William enlisted in the RCAF in 1943, serving as an instrument mechanic until his discharge in 1945. He is reported to have returned from overseas in February of 1945. The CDN 6/02/45 reported that William was home on a seven day furlough from his RCAF station in Newfoundland.
Served twenty seven months in the Air Force in Newfoundland.
Discharged December 7th, 1945.
