The son of Mrs. Louis Challinor of 24 Third St., Chatham, ON. The CDN 25/04/44 reported that Jack a had graduated as a WAG (Wireless Air Gunner) from the No. 3 Wireless School in Winnipeg, MB. He was stationed at Ancienne Lorette, Quebec to take the navigator’s course as a wireless navigator.
Jack trained in Canada for two years. He then went overseas for six months and was promoted to Flight Sergeant.
Discharged August 1945.
He was trained as a navigator on a Lancaster bomber and served in the theatre of war between 1943 and 1945. He died at age 50 of leukemia in 1974. Info submitted by his son, John Challinor II.
