John was in the Navy for nearly five years. He was on steady convoy duty for nearly four years between Halifax and England. John was an Aspic Operator (detecting submarine instruments). His ship convoyed into the Halifax harbour. A Polish Destroyer brought it part way and the Campbell brought it into the habour officially.
He was eventually promoted to Leading Seaman.
Discharged July 1945.
