Enlisted in 24th Kent Regt March 1913 and was promoted to Sergeant remaining with that unit until he enlisted in the 55th Battery.
Private Sidney Carder trained with the 55th. Battery in Guelph from enlistment until April 10th, 1916, when he transferred to the 186th. Kent Battalion, leaving for overseas March 36th, 1917. He was stationed at Bramshott Camp until June 13th, 1917, when, due to an accident to his right leg, he was admitted to Bramshott Hospital, and transferred to Bexhill C.T.S. July 9th, 1917. He was attached to the Canadian Engineers at Covden, Sussex, England, from January 23rd, 1981, to December 30th, 1918; proceeded to Witley Camp for demobilization and embarked for Canada January 29th, 1919. He arrived at Halifax February 5th, 1919.
Private Sidney Carded received his discharged March 4th, 1919, being medically unfit for demobilization.
