Capeling, Theodore Alvie

 

 

Born 19/10/1913 in Chatham, ON. The son of Edward and Carrie (nee Moore). The brother of Leo Edward, Katherine Bernice, Wellington Carl, Gloria JoAnne, Helen and Ruth Lenore.

He married Madelene “Madge” Rose (nee Chartrand) 17/09/38 CDN 20/08/38, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Chartrand at Blessed Sacrament Church. They made their home at 31 Sandy’s St., Chatham. They had three children Cathryn 7/12/48, CDN 8/12/48, Theodore Ronald CDN 7/06/43 and James Edward.

Ted enlisted 26/04/1944 with the 2nd Kent Regt. Ted appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown) as service number A470138. He transferred to the R.C.O.C. and the RCEME, serving with them for over 2 years.

He was discharged from the army on 20/08/1946.

After the war, Ted worked in the parts department at Waekens Chrysler and Plymoth in Chatham. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 28.

Ted passed away Monday, 16 March, 1987 at the Public General Hospital, Chatham, ON. at 73 years. At the time of his death he was living at 107 Alexandria Ave. in Chatham. Upon retiring, Ted was often found at the golf course. He is buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery next to his wife, Madge.
