Born in Harwich Twsp. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Campbell of Windsor, ON, formerly of Merlin. He married Doris Jean (nee Button) of Atwood, ON CDN 21/07/52. They had three sons: Larry, David and Paul.

The Merlin Standard (1944 date unknown) reported that Sgt. Jones along with Sgt. L. Pegg and Sgt. L. Campbell were all on a 31 day leave prior to going overseas 

The Merlin Standard 27/07/44 reported that Flt. Sgt. had arrived back in Canada after service overseas . He was sent back to Canada “owing to ill health”. He had been overseas since February first of 1944 as a WAG. He had arrived at RCAF Rockcliffe ON. He was expecting an appointment as a Warrant Officer and perhaps a commission.

Lyle passed away 5 July, 2014. CDN-Obit 22/12/14 (Doris Jean).
