The Toronto Globe & Mail reported that Sydney was reported he was missing on air ops.(date unknown) The CVWM lists he was killed in action 13/12/41 and is buried at Phaleron War Cemetery in Greece.

He is also on the Bomber Command Memorial Wall at Nanton AB. in England.
