The son of Mrs. Ruth Butler of Centre St. Sgt. Butler enlisted in August of 1940 serving with the First Kent. He went overseas two years ago. He arrived in France 6 July and has been in action with the Essex Scottish. Cpl. Butler cabled his mother Mrs. R. Butler that he had arrived safely.
Served in Canada two and a half years. Transferred to the Essex Scottish Regiment and went overseas. Served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Promoted to Sergeant-Major. Was wounded and hospitalized for two and a half months in France.
Reported as serving in Holland. Wesley sent a lovely bouquet of flowers. CDN 2/02/45. The CDN 26/02/45(P) reported that Mrs. Butler had received a cable message that her son had been wounded in action 19/02/45 and is in hospital.
Wesley was reported returning to Canada aboard the Queen Elizabeth. CDN 17/11/45(P)
Discharged January 9th, 1946.
