Served in Canada from July 1940 to January 1943. Transferred to the Essex Scottish Regiment and went overseas. Served overseas from January 1943 to April 1946. Was wounded and hospitalized. Awarded the France and Germany Star. The Defence Medal and the 1939 to 1945 Star.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Butler of 197 King St., Chatham. The member of a patriotic family, his brother Bud was killed in Sicily on the day of the invasion. His brother Orval, who was serving with the RCR was reported missing 24 December, 1943 and is a POW. Pte. Milton, Bud’s twin brother was in Italy and Albert the fifth boy had enlisted but was given an honourable discharge due to ill health.

Discharged May 14th 1946.

Ivan was reported living at 79 Prince St., Chatham, ON. in 1964.
