Served in Canada for six months. Sent overseas and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Promoted to Corporal.

The Merlin Standard 23/10/ 41, reported that Cpl. Burke was with B. Battery, C.A.T.C. at the Petewawa training Camp. He was the former pastor at the First Baptist church. He had returned to Merlin to visit many homes in the small community he he addressed an assembly of school pupils as well. E expected he would soon be embarking for England within a month.

Reported returned from overseas duty 25 July, 1945. Reported volunteered for the Pacific theatre August, 1945. CDN 14/08/45.
