Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 1284 – 31, Item: 76264. Date of Birth 8/08/1876 at  Bothwell. Next of Kin: Sara Ann Burk, wife, they had an adopted daughter Gladys (14 years old at enlistment). A labourer – millwright, living in Bothwell, ON. Attestation: 6/06/1916 at Bothwell, age 35 years 10 mths. 5’ 4”.

Private John Joseph Burke trained with the 186th. Battalion at London and Camp Borden, but received his discharge due to heart trouble and weak lungs.

Private John Joseph was given his discharge October 9th, 1916, being unfit for military service.

Although his Military file spells his name ‘BURKE’ at enlistment it was BURK.

While at Camp Borden he was diagnosed as having “Chronic Bronchitis” and was discharge as Medically Unfit” 9/10/1916.
