The son of Mr. and Mrs. A Bunning of Cedar Springs, Kent Co., ON.  He was one of three Cedar Springs boys on a weekend leave from HMCS Hunter in Windsor.  

The CDN 24/09/43(P), reported that Maxwell was one of the sailors to act on one of the guards of honour for Prime Minister Churchill during his visit with President Roosevelt and the Canadian government at Quebec 

Max shortly afterwards left for Nova Scotia.
