Born 1921 in Wardsville, Middlesex Co., ON. The son of Mr. James and Marie (Hanton) Bunda of 39 Oak St., Wallaceburg, ON.  He came to Wallaceburg with his parents and siblings Anthony,  Charles (RCNVR), Joseph and Christina who were all living at home at the time.

Wesley was working at the Dominion Glass Co. in Wallaceburg before he enlisted in the 1st Kent Regt. He served with the Kents at a number of places including British Columbia before transferring overseas. He was posted to the 1st Battalion Highland Light Infantry par of the 3rd Canadian Division.

He went to France on D-Day with the HLI and saw battle with that unit through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.

He returned to England and was repatriated to Canada in Wallaceburg on 28 October, 1945 after almost five and half years in service.

An article in the WN 15/11/45 reported that Sgt. Wesley F. Bunda had been Gazetted with the Military Medal. When apprised of the reward, his reply was “what’s it for?” He was pictured with his proud mother reading the citation.

Wesley married Lucienne in 1947 and they had two children; Carol (Sanchiar) and David.

Wesley passed away 2 November 2000 at the age of 79 years.  GOHS. Internment at Riverview Cemetery, Wallaceburg, ON.
