John joined the Army two days before Canada declared war on Germany in September 1939. He received his training in London with the 1st Hussars, then Camp Borden and went overseas in August of 1942. Serving in England, Belgium and finally Holland.

Date of Death: 30/03/1945, accidentally shot by Canadian soldier, in Holland
