Trained in Canada for one and a half years and went to go overseas and served in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He was wounded in Germany. Awarded the Defense Medal, France and Germany Medal, 1939-1945 Star, and the C.V.S.M.

Discharged March 22nd 1946.

L/Cpl. 1st Class Commando. Reported returning to Niagara-on-the-Lake for training after leave to visit his parents home on Patteson Ave., Chatham, ON. CDN 27/04/42. In November of 1942 Fusillier Brown was home on furlough this time he was stationed at Vancouver BC. CDN 3/11/42

In January 1944 Robert was serving in Kiska with the Canadian Fusiliers when he was given a furlough to visit his parents. CDN 8/02/44

The WN 23/03/44 reported that Robert was on active service.
