Brown, Henry James

 

The son of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Brown of Princess St. North, Chatham. Living at 22 Lawson Dr., Chatham, ON. The husband of Pauline May (nee Larige) they had two children: Susan (Cook) and Steven.

In March of 1942, Henry was a member of the pipe band of the First Kent Regiment. He was then stationed at Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON. He was reported on a “short furlough” with another Private of the pipe band, Pte Duncan Baxter, at Henry’s parents home in Chatham CDN 13/03/42. 

In May of 1942, Henry was reported on furlough from the First Kents to visit his family. The former “News” Boy reported that the Chatham men had been “most hospitably received” at their new training depot. CDN 29/05/42.

He participated in two seasons with Kent Bugle Band.

Henry served with the Kent Regiment for six years in Canada and was promoted to Sergeant during his service.

 

Discharged July 26th, 1946.

Henry James passed away 13 January, 2004 at the age of 88 years.
