Albert enlisted in August of 1942 and trained from August to February of 1943, and then went overseas. The CDN 10/05/43 (P), reported that Pte. Brown had arrived overseas with the Essex Scottish.
He joined the Carleton & York Regt. part of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division. He invaded Sicily as part of the “Operation Husky”, and then Italy where he was WIA resulting in the loss of his left eye at Campobasso during a German dive-bomber attack.
His return to Chatham and reported in the CDN 16/06/44. “brought envious sighs from other soldiers on the train on their way to Windsor. In addition to his comely red-headed wife and his young son whom he had never seen, there was a number of sisters and cousins of the feminine sex, all attractive blondes and brunettes, to plant a welcome kiss and give a war hug.”
Albert was discharged from the army 28/07/1944.
Albert passed away 25 July, 1995 at the age of 73 years.
