Corporal Albert Russell Brown left for overseas with the 1st. Canadian Battalion September 29th, 1914, and after training at Salisbury Plains, England, he proceeded to France February 11th, 1915 with the 1st. Canadian Battalion. He served at Merville, Armentieres, Esteries, Cassell, Ypres, Festubert, Bailleul, Ploegstratte, Bethune, and LaClytte where Corporal Brown received shrapnel wounds in the abdomen.
Corporal Albert Russell Brown received his discharge November 15th, 1916, being medically unfit for further military service.
