Regimental number: 880672. Born 6/02/1897 (attestation lists DOB: 23/03/1897 at Dresden) at Bothwell, ON. The son of John A. (his father was later listed as “crippled” and John Edgar was providing $30.00 per month) and Mary Elizabeth (nee Oliver) Browe (she was later reported in Walkerville, ON. and Detroit, Michigan). John E. was reported as a single person and had served with the 26th Regt. for a year prior to his enlistment. He enlisted at Chatham, ON. with the 186th Batt 14/04/16.

He embarked from Halifax 20/11/17 aboard the NMT Scotian arriving in England 7/12/17 and TOS with the CCC Batt. John served in France with the Canadian Corp Cyclist Batt.

John embarked for Canada 12/04/1919 and was discharged 23/04/1919

John passed away 1 Dec., 1940 and is buried at Riverview Cemetery in Wallaceburg, ON. (C. Brant)
