Born in England, the son of Arthur Robert Sr. and Charlotte (nee Beards) he came to Tilbury as a young boy when his parents immigrated from Derby, England. He served in both WWI and WWII.
Private Arthur R. Bricknell went to England with the 99th. Battalion June 2nd, 1916, from Essex Co., ON.
He got overseas but there is no record of him being in active service in France.
He transferred to the 35th. Battalion in July. He contracted bronchitis and curvature of the spine developed. He was returned to Canada for treatment.
Private Arthur R. Bricknell received his discharge from the military service December 14th, 1916 for being unfit for further duties.
After his return from the Great War, he worked as an upholsterer and stripper at the Canadian Top & Body Co. of Tilbury. He married Melinda (nee Labonte) and they had one son named Frederick and two daughters named Beverley (Panrent) and Carol (Arnew)
Arthur Jr. passed away Tuesday, 3 January, 1962 and his internment was at McDowell Cemetery, Tilbury West.
