Formerly from Chatham and well known in Kent Co. He attended Chatham Collegiate and was employed at the Bank of Montreal in Chatham. He was born in Dresden, and he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brandon (Mr. Brandon was the Postmaster). He had one sister named Betty. Before the war, Granton completed training at the Chatham Armories. He was married and had one son named Robert. The family was stationed at Goose Bay, Newfoundland.
The DT 27/06/40 reported that Granton was stationed at the RCAF-Montreal at the Wireless School when he was given a 48 hour pass.
He worked with radar during his service.
In 1941 it was reported in the DT 23/01/41 that Lieutenant Brandon, who was stationed at RCAF-Calgaey was home on a two week leave to see his parents. After the leave, he was in charge of 100 RCAF men going to Eastern Canada.
Granton went overseas in 1942 to study British science and radar operations. In September of 1942, Flight Lieutenant was promoted to the rank of Squadron Leader. CDN 2/09/42 When the RCAF first opened the Clinton radar school, Sqd. Ldr. Brandon was appointed chief instructor and was responsible with reorganizing the school into a permanent advance electronics training institution: Chief Instructor Royal Canadian Air Force School, Clinton Ontario, Command of Radar Station Goose Bay, Labrador, Liaison Officer various stations in Great Britain. He was later transferred to the east coast and was assigned to operational stations there and in Newfoundland.

It was reported in the CDN 28/12/44 (also reported in DT) that Sqd. Ldr. Brandon was stationed in Newfoundland with his wife and son Robert ‘Bobby’. They spent Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brandon of Dresden.
In April of 1945, Squadron Leader Brandon and his family, along with Miss Betty Brandon of Buffalo NY, were visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brandon of Dresden. He was later transferred to the east coast assigned to operational stations there at Torbay, Newfoundland.
Granton had volunteered for service five years prior in April of 1940. He had seen service in several parts of Canada and was sent on an important mission to England. DT 17/05/45
Sqd. Ldr. Brandon was reported discharged from the RCAF after five years of service, August, 1945.
Granton passed away 15 February, 1981. Internment at the Dresden Cemetery.
