Regimental number: 124592, Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 991-11, ITEM: 59644, PDF: B0991-SO11. Date of Birth: 25/09/1877 at Sheffield, England. Next of Kin: Jane Bradbury (wife) living at 196 Raleigh St. Chatham. [Jane would move from time to time 116 Wellington St. and 51 Scane St. all in Chatham, ON.] A labourer.

Attestation: 28/12/15 at London, ON. District Depot. Height: 5’2 ¾ , Girth: 35 ½” , Complexion: Dark, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Dark. Four vaccination scars on left arm. Medical at London, ON. Age 38 years. To 70th o/s Battalion CEF 

He arrived in England aboard the S. S. Lapland, 10/07/16 with the 70th Batt. He was attached to the Cdn Tunnel Co. Cdn Engineers (CE) in the field 5/02/17. It was in the Rouern area that he was wounded a GSW to his left knee.

It was reported that Pte. H.F. Bradburry had received a Gun Shot Wound (GSW). He had served in England in 1916 and in France until June 1917. He was Wounded In Action (WIA) 23 Sep. 1917 in the Ypres/Rouern area. He was admitted to No.3 Hospital (General) at Oxford 7/10/17. 15/12/17 his wound had healed however “Walked with sticks otherwise ‘apparentily normal”. He was treated at No.5 General Hospital and the wound looked clea 

Shrapnel had entered from the outside of his thigh just at the knee while being treated at Winchfield Hospital in November 1917 

Horace was invalided to Canada leaving from Liverpool 3/05/18 TOS No. 1 District . Discharged – “MEDICALLY UNFIT. Shipped out on the S.S. Goorkha 11/06/18 departing from Avonmouth departed 31/05/18 and arrived in Canada 11/06/18 

Horace was before the Medical Board for being AWOL and was fined five days pay. The board Did not see how he could resume his original occupation” 

 He was discharged from HMS as Medically Unfit.

Horace Frederick Bradbury passed away 31 December, 1934.
